Room to relax and unwind in an historic pub

THE Plough Inn at Tarrawingee offers patrons a relaxed, family and dog friendly vibe, function space and pub meals five days a week for lunch and dinner.

The original weatherboard hotel was established in 1861 but, after burning down, the current two storey building was constructed and finished by 1864.

The single storey section was added in 1880 as a General Store and bricks used for the new building were made using soil sourced from local paddocks.

A former Cobb & Co stables changing station, the original pub was founded by Henry Nolan and members of the Nolan family had continuous ownership until 2020.

Like most pubs, parmas and steaks take up plenty of space on the menu, however they offer an array of other good country pub food options, with the menu changed seasonally and weekly specials.

The wine list showcases some outstanding wines and ice cold beers from the local area and a selection of small meals are available for those with lighter appetites.

The large beer garden is perfect for those spring afternoons with a cold drink, a great pub meal and some friends – especially under the large 140 year old Wisteria.

Regular live music is performed on Friday nights and every Sunday from 1pm to 4pm.

As part of the Wangaratta Festival of Jazz and Blues on the weekend of October 28–30, you can enjoy live music on Friday and Saturday nights and Saturday and Sunday afternoons and they are open on Melbourne Cup Day with more live music to be enjoyed.

The Plough Inn is open Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday from 11.30am to 11pm.
