Beetles, bugs and butterflies

THE 2022 Murrindindi Beanie and Fibre Festival is being held at the Alexandra Shire Hall on July 23 and 24 with money raised going towards local charities within the Shire of Murrindindi.

Now in its eighth year, the festival was originally set up as a response to the February Black Saturday bush fires as a community arts event to bring joy and to be available for anyone to enter.

This year's theme is Beetles, Bugs & Butterflies, and the unique and popular event is shaping up to be the biggest and best Beanie Festival to date.

Personal donations, schools and community groups are welcome to participate in the fibre arts festival and market and 'Wear a Beanie Day' is on Friday July 22.

There will be plenty of beanies, winter warmers and fibre arts for sale during the festival, you can browse the competition entries as well as the many stalls of unique handmade goods in the market place.

The official opening will take place on Saturday, July 23 at 9.45am with doors open between 10am and 4pm on Saturday and Sunday.

Sold items can be collected Sunday between 4pm and 6pm.

A select number of beanies will also be sold online to the highest bidder via the auction site.

Online viewing starts on Tuesday, July 19 and ends on Sunday, July 24 at 3pm with furious bidding expected for the most popular items as the clock counts down.

Alternatively, you can download the brochure from beanie.org.au.

With free entry into the beanie competition for those who donate an item to the colourful display, people of all ages and abilities are encouraged to enter.
