The brilliance of Marysville

HAVE you visited Marysville Information and Regional Artspace yet?

This beautiful venue showcases the works of the talented artists and musicians in their region.

This year has seen a resurgence in the arts and MiRA is testimony to this having hosted five exhibitions, two community festivals and six live performances so far.

Until September 21, in the MiRA main gallery, you will find a stunning exhibition entitled The Place I Call Home by local abstract artist Fern Siebler.

MiRA will be hosting The S.C.O.N.E.S Art Group joint exhibition 'Wanderings' between September 23 and October 25 and is full of uplifting works in mixed media including paintings, textile art and sculpture.

Play Music on the Porch Day is Saturday, August 28 and local musicians Darryl Hull (piano soloist), Jackson Harris (guitar and vocal), James Whybrow (guitar) and Sera Ghaly (harp) will be performing throughout the day in the main gallery foyer on Murchison Street.

Come along to listen and support these amazing local artists and browse through the shop and gallery.

Marysville Art Show and Arts Fest 22 will be held over Melbourne Cup weekend (October 25 to November 3).

This event is well worth the visit and in conjunction with the festival, Spring Art Workshops with Louise Foletta (painting in watercolour) will be held.

Suitable for all levels and featuring live music.

The 2022 annual exhibition for Valley Potters Inc. will be held from November 19 and is entitled From the Ground Up.

It describes the range of beautiful ceramic artworks created with the wonderful and precious resource from the earth, clay.

This exhibition is made up of the works of several artists and comprises of sculptural, functional and decorative pieces.

These are made and fired using various techniques, such as hand building, wheel throwing, primitive firing, gas or electric firing.

"It is a true pleasure to showcase the collection of so many talented local ceramic artists and their 'From the Ground Up'," Bernadette Skinner from Valley Potters Inc. said.
