Find some warmth in Beechworth this winter

AS the weather cools, weekend and extended getaways take on a new feel, but there is still so much to see and do in Beechworth even as the mercury dips.

During the day, there is plenty of opportunity for outings, whether you're up for adventure, tasting the region's delicious gourmet produce or soaking up the history of Beechworth and its surrounds.

For everything from mountain bike trails to walks that offer spectacular views, it's worth rugging up against the winter chill.

If it's your palate you're looking to satisfy, the Beechworth Farmers' Market is held on the first Saturday of every month in the grounds of Christ Church on the Hill in Ford Street and provides a tasting plate of what's available in the region.

With fresh local fruit and vegetables, bread, locally reared meats, cheeses and poultry, as well as seedlings, flowers and herbs on offer, the market is a chance to meet the growers and get to know the surrounding area from paddock to plate.

A host of eateries in the Beechworth area provide the ambience required for a great night out with loved ones or a big group of friends.

And if you're staying locally, the crisp nights are the perfect time to find an inviting fire somewhere and snuggle up with a book or music, some friends and a glass of local wine.
