Page two of the Friday, November 26, 1897 edition of The Violet Town Sentinel read: We are in receipt of the first copy of the Euroa Gazette, a new journal published by Messrs Gilbert Bros.

The same is a very creditable production and the proprietors are deserving of success in their enterprise.

We wish them success.

To celebrate 125 years of continuous publication, a time capsule is to be buried on October 22 at the Euroa Showgrounds as part of the Euroa Agricultural Society Show.

Anyone is welcome to contribute to the capsule which will be opened on the 150th anniversary.

A gold coin donation is requested to have your memorabilia included in the time capsule with money going to the Euroa Agricultural Society.
