Explore nature at the Wacky Bird Gallery

NESTLED among the homes in Edward Street Corowa you will find what looks like a large shed, with a strange bird on the outside, that is clearly labelled Wacky Bird Gallery.

When you step inside you will enter a world of patterns and nature, of birds, native flowers and journeys through the local region.

It is here you will find the well-presented and beautifully framed artwork of master lino block artist/printmaker Christine Upton.

The gallery artworks are changed every season and include both recently created and others from over 30 years of exploring nature through lino block printing, painting and drawing.

Christine’s artwork is only shown here and in major regional galleries but is owned across the world.

Unframed original artworks are also available.

So, if you have seen works you like on the Wacky Bird Website or Facebook page please make sure you ask to see them.

They are all stored on the premise and are quick to find.

Entering the second area of Wacky Bird Gallery you will find a range of smaller artworks and gift items.

These include placemats, coaster, cards and unframed A4 commercial reproduction prints.

This space is also the design and carving studio where Christine is only too happy to explain the processes she uses and for you to see what is being developed or carved at the time of your visit.

The third area of the gallery is where you can touch some of the carved blocks and where the unframed works can be shown.

Wacky Bird Gallery is open Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from 10am to 4pm.

Christine is always there to welcome and invite you to spend time looking at the artwork and ask any questions about them.

It’s a great place to see the artwork and hear the stories.
