TWO best mates living at opposite ends of Victoria – Alec was ready for a new adventure after completing an owner–built home on a patch of land in the beautiful Mitta Valley, while Tim was honing his brewing skills and dreaming of running his own business.

A shared love of beer and a late night phone call between the two friends and the Mitta Mitta Brewing Company was born.

Tim and Alec along with their partners Jen and Chris spent the next six years hand building every stage of their project from a paddock to a completed, independently owned and owner operated brewery.

The purpose built shed has been fitted out with locally sourced timbers and repurposed materials to create a unique and welcoming space, with the taproom opening in 2018.

The taproom has a range of beers brewed in–house, using predominantly their own estate–grown hops (without the use of chemicals) which sets them apart from other breweries.

They source their malt from Voyager Craft Malt in Whitton – a local single origin, small batch, craft malt house and their fresh cultured yeast comes from Bluestone Yeast, a lab based in Melbourne.

Those elements, along with water sourced from the property, are brought together to craft their beer range which includes a pale lager, a mid–strength and a black beer as well as seasonal brews.

For non–beer drinkers, the bar stocks local ciders and wines and Australian spirits.

The Brewery's kitchen offers an interesting and varied menu from slow cooked meats to delicious vegetarian and plant based options, house made desserts and wood fired pizzas on Friday and Saturday nights.

They can also cater for functions up to 80 people with a mix of share plates and canapés all prepared fresh onsite.

In the welcoming beer garden, you will enjoy views to Mt Bogong and there is plenty of space for kids to run around.

In the cooler months, you can cosy up inside by the fire.

The Mitta Mitta Brewing Co is just an hour from Albury/Wodonga and provides a fun and relaxing day out in a stunning part of the world.
