The Plough Inn is full of history as well with the original weatherboard hotel established in 1861 but, after burning down, the current two storey building was constructed and finished by 1864.

The single storey section was added in 1880 as a General Store and bricks used for the new building were made using soil sourced from local paddocks.

A former Cobb & Co stables changing station, the original pub was founded by Henry Nolan and members of the Nolan family had continuous ownership until 2020.

So next time you are travelling along the Great Alpine Road to or from Wangaratta, take the turn off for Beechworth and stop at the Plough Inn.
