SPIRITS of the High Country is a food and drink event showcasing Victoria's High Country producers and debuts on March 18 at Mount Buller's Village Square.
Event highlights include live music, MasterClasses by renowned drinks expert Fred Siggins and rare green season access to the Bourke Street Express chairlift which was last operated in the green season in 2019.
Fred Siggins is a Melbourne–based spirits and cocktail expert who has worked in the hospitality and spirits industry for more than 20 years as a bartender, chef, educator, consultant and marketing executive, including stints as Brand Manager at Sullivans Cove and 78 Degrees.
Fred currently works as Events and Marketing Manager at Melbourne's Whisky & Alement.
He is also a panel chair of both Drink Easy and the Australian Distilled Spirits Awards drinks competitions and is an accomplished freelance writer with his work on drinks culture published in Good Food, Eater, PUNCH, Time Out Melbourne and T Magazine Australia.
Event ticketholders can take a short ride up the mountain on the chairlift and take in the 360–degree alpine views from a pop–up bar by the Speakeasy Group.
The Speakeasy Group is a high–end boutique hospitality group owned and operated by Sven Almenning and Greg Sanderson and will be offering a cocktail menu designed exclusively for Spirits of the High Country.
Renowned for their creative, pioneering and intuitive contribution to the hospitality industry, in the short time since the first venue opened to the public in February 2010, the group has received an astonishing reception from those with a penchant for fine food and beverage experiences.
Venues include Eaude–Vie, Boilermaker House, Mjølner, Nick & Nora's and Pearl Diver alongside Ananas, an internationally renowned training and management platform and two e–commerce businesses: Viking Mode and Whisky Freaks.
Producers taking part in Spirits of the High Country event include Billson's, Bridge Road Brewery, Dal Zotto, Delatite Winery, John Gehrig Wines, Pizzini Wines, Reed & Co. and Swiftcrest Distillery.
Ticket price includes all tastings, a take home polycarb tumbler and chair lift access.
Additional drinks and food will be available for purchase on the day.
