FOR more than 36 years Craig and Barb Jones have established and operate a comprehensive cross–country/back–country ski hire, ski school, mountain 4WD transport and Alpine Camp based out of Telephone Box Junction on Mt Stirling, providing excellent on mountain activities and opportunities in their much loved environment.
And this year with an early start the Joneses have again excelled in preparing for a bumper season.
"COVID has disrupted the last two years but our links with the Estonian cross country ski community has now been re–established and three Estonian cross country ski instructors will be joining our returning Australian crew for 2022," Barb Jones said.
"Former Estonian members of our team Vahur Tepan (V–man) and Siim Eilo have spent the past three years leading up to the Beijing Olympics coaching the Chinese Olympic Cross Country Ski Team.
"We have retained close contact with both athletes and are indebted to them for their support in both development of lesson structure, staff training and staff selection within our ski school team and they will return again this season along with some new members to join our team."
Stirling Expereince offers a wide range of classic, skating, touring, telemark and alpine touring skis.
Snow shoes and toboggans are also available for hire – toboggans have no restriction on Mt Stirling.
Cross country ski lessons are available at all levels and in all cross country disciplines including Diagonal Stride, Skating and Telemark.

If you would prefer to join a group for a tour around the mountain the Ski School offers both a snow shoe tour or a ski tour each weekend.
Snow Shoe Wander – an afternoon enjoying fresh mountain air and a little light exercise – a guided tour winds through tall mountain ash forest trails, alongside mountain streams to visit historical mountain huts.
This half day program operates every weekend during the season.
